Kezzler features in this month’s edition of Snack Food & Wholesale Bakery magazine. In the article entitled ‘Traceability technologies streamline snack and bakery food safety and efficiency’ Kezzler CEO Christine Akselsen speaks about the value of serialization in the sector.
Akselsen explains how being able to track products through the application of unique, secure and traceable identities in the form of codes supports food safety, as well as a range of other important business functions such as inventory management. Serialization supports food safety because brands can use the codes to ensure supply chain visibility. This means they can identify issues with a product’s journey before it reaches the consumer. Brands are also able to identify when shipments have gone astray, or may have been exposed to compromising conditions. Should the brand choose to, they can use the codes to enable consumer authentication. Consumers are able to scan the code using a phone and check that the product is genuine. They can also confirm that there are no recall warnings in place.
Akselsen further sets out the value of serialization in terms of supporting the development of efficient business operations. By tracking products from creation to consumption brands can garner deep insights into the product journey and entire life cycle. This information supports their future planning and competitiveness.
Moreover, the application of a Kezzler code to a product enables brands to share additional information with consumers. Given the growing demand for transparency regarding a range of considerations, from wellness to environmental factors, this is extremely valuable.
